| Harvesting and Yields |
Harvesting usually begins the end of June. Timing is determined by seed color when it transitions from bright green to yellow-green to brown which signals the crop is then ready. Quality is maintained by high soil moisture as close to harvest and allowing the plants to loedge prior to maturity to prevent seed loss.
Average yields for bluegrass are 900 to 950 lbs/acre. However, these can vary widely and are influenced by variety, grower practices, and growing conditions. |
