Description
Perennial Ryegrass (lolium perenne) is highly regarded as a source of both forage and hay. With a leafy head and fine stem, it is considered very palatable. Perennial ryegrass is a rapid starter and can grow to a height of 1.5 to 3 feet without becoming unpalatable.

Harvesting and Yields
For optimal quality and quantity perennial ryegrass should be cut in early boot stage. Pacific Northwest growing region offers four to six harvests. A five-cutting season offers yields in the range of 40, 18, 15, 12, and 15.
